OC Water Purification –
Where it starts, Where it ends!
The Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS) is the world's largest water purification system for indirect potable reuse. Hightly treated wastewater that would have previously been discharged into the Pacific Ocean is purified using a three-step advanced treatment process consisitng of microfiltration, reverse osmosis and ultraviolet light with hydrogen peroxide. It is then pumped to pecorlation basins and injection wells to replenish groundwater aquifers and create a seawater intrusion barrier. The process produces high-quality, near-distilled-quality water that meets or exceeds all state and federal drinking water standards.
The GWRS has garnered more than 50 awards
and has been featured in prominent media.
Attendees will have the opportunity to experience the following:
- Tour the Groundwater Replenishment System.
- Observe the filtration and microfiltration systems and other treatment processes including reverse osmosis (RO), Hydrogen Peroxide and UV treatment.
- See the operating systems and command center.
- Learn the overall process from OCSD through OCWD for reuse indirectly to the groundwater drinking source.
- Hear how almost all wastewater is treated to be reused to lessen discharges to the ocean.
Tour Guidelines:
- A box lunch will be provided.
- Registration is available to the first 25 registrants who register by 8/18/2019.
- Cancellations cannot be refunded.
- Unpaid “No Shows” will be billed and must be paid.
Safety guidelines
Safety protocol dictates that closed toe shoes are required and high heels are not permitted. Tour guests are requierd to wear hard hats and safety vests, which will be provided by OCWD. Failure to comply with protocol will prohibit one's participation in the tour.
Admission
Employees of Member Companies/Agencies: $45 if registered by 8/18/19 or $50 after 8/18/19.
Members bring a guest: Bring a non-member as a guest (@ the Member rate) and introduce them to IEC/OC!
Guests: $60 if registered by 8/18/19 or $65 after 8/18/19.
Fne Print:
Cancelled Reservations must be received by Noon on 8/16/19. Late Cancellations cannot be refunded. Unpaid “No Shows” will be billed and must be paid.
If you register, attend the August Orange County Water Department GWRS Tour and decide you want to BECOME A MEMBER of IEC/OC, IEC/OC will deduct the difference from the luncheon cost (between member and non-member) and apply to your membership dues.
